Start School Later is a coalition of health professionals, sleep scientists, educators, parents, students, and other concerned citizens dedicated to increasing awareness about the relationship between sleep and school hours and to ensuring school start times compatible with health, safety, education, and equity.
We are a growing group of concerned parents, caregivers, medical professionals, and subject matter experts that know that children that start school too early in the morning face unnecessary challenges. Starting School Later in the morning has been proven to increase test scores and academic performance, reduce traffic accidents among teens, and reduce depression. These are just a few reasons we want to make it a national concern to Start School Later!
There are many ways you can get involved to support Start School Later's mission of ensuring safe, healthy, equitable school start times. Opportunities include signing petitions and finding a local chapter to get involved locally. Visit the website to learn more!
