Passionate about social justice? In Dublin, explore issues of power, privilege, and equity while connecting with nonprofits that support marginalized groups. Propose your own social justice project, reflect on identity and culture, and gain tools to drive change at home. Along the way, immerse yourself in Irish traditions, explore historic sites, and experience life in vibrant Dublin and nearby villages.
This program invites you to examine power, privilege, and equity while learning directly from community organizations that serve marginalized populations, including those experiencing homelessness, migration, and addiction.
As part of a small group of Global Navigators, you’ll design and propose a social justice project, using your experiences in Ireland as inspiration for future action in your own community. Through workshops, reflection, and collaboration, you’ll deepen your understanding of identity, culture, and social responsibility, while gaining practical tools to become a more effective advocate for change.
Your journey is enriched by Ireland’s unique history and traditions. Step aboard a replica of the Jeanie Johnston Famine Ship to learn about the country’s emigrants, or pause for reflection at the haunting Famine Memorial. Get active with hands-on introductions to Gaelic football, hurling, and Irish football. Wander Dublin’s cobblestone streets, cross the iconic Ha’Penny Bridge, and take in the energy of a modern European capital rooted in rich tradition. Weekend excursions to Howth and Carlingford offer glimpses of small-village life, dramatic coastal views, and community warmth.
By the end of your program, you’ll leave not only with new cultural insights and friendships, but also with the confidence and strategies to champion the issues you care about. Your time in Ireland will prepare you to return home as a more empowered, thoughtful, and action-driven advocate for social justice.
