    Overview

Discover wildlife conservation at work in Costa Rica and take part in the movement in one of the most biodiverse places on Earth.

Conservation is essential for preserving biodiversity, protecting habitats and understanding human impact on ecosystems. Home to around half a million species, about 5% of all species on Earth, Costa Rica is a global leader in conservation and has taken bold steps to protect its natural beauty. Alongside fellow Global Navigators, analyze and evaluate conservationist strategies implemented to protect local wildlife.

Observe and identify species in their habitats. Discuss how climate change plays a role in conservation. Walk through the misty trails of the Monteverde Cloud Forest and try to spot white-faced capuchins, toucans and two-toed sloths.

Practice your Spanish, chase waterfalls and learn how coffee is grown in the region. Visit the Guanacaste region known for stunning beaches as well as the Pacific lowland forests where spectacular mammals like the elusive jaguar and tapirs prowl. Immerse yourself in Costa Rican culture and why the country is considered one of the happiest places on Earth!
