The Honors Spanish Program is designed for highly motivated language learners who are ready to fully immerse themselves in Spanish. As an Honors student, you’ll begin by taking a language proficiency test to confirm your ability to communicate at an intermediate or advanced level. Only students with sufficient fluency will be admitted, ensuring that everyone is equally prepared to take on the challenge of speaking exclusively in Spanish.
Central to the program is the Language Pledge, a commitment to use only Spanish both in and out of class. This total immersion approach pushes you to think, live, and communicate in Spanish throughout your entire experience. To support your growth, you’ll complete weekly surveys that allow you to reflect on your progress, set new goals, and ensure you are continuously challenged.
Life outside the classroom is just as immersive. You’ll live with a homestay family, practicing conversational Spanish in authentic daily interactions. All cultural activities and excursions are shared with other Honors students, creating an environment where you’re surrounded by peers who share your dedication to language mastery.
By the end of the program, you will have significantly strengthened your fluency, built confidence in real-world communication, and gained a deeper connection to Spanish culture through meaningful experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
